MELA Student Council: We Love Our School!

Today in "We Love Our School Series", we highlight student voices at our charter school. Read below to learn about MELA students love about their elementary school! 

Student Council at MELA is made up of third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grade. They meet twice a month and contribute towards improving the school culture and community at MELA. At their last meeting, student council members decided to share some of the things they love about their school.

• Jerusalen, a sixth grade representative shared this, “One thing I love about my school is that we have amazing teachers. They help us learn and plan fun projects.”

• Zion, a sixth grade representative, shared his favorite part of MELA, “One thing I love about our school is recess. I especially love kick ball, gaga ball, and sledding. It is fun to play with other classes.”

• A fifth grade representative, Dede, brought up her favorite subjects in school, “One thing I love about our school is gym and math. Mr. Lay allows for student choice in gym on Fridays.”

• A fourth grade representative, Adowa, talked about positivity at MELA, “One thing I love about our school is that, to help our school, we earn prizes, there are positive rewards.”

• Geneva, a third grade representative, talked about enjoying music class, “One thing I love about music is that we get to have fun and try out new instruments.”

• Another third grade representative, America, mentioned something that makes MELA unique, “One thing I love about the school is that every Wednesday we have passion projects and it’s fun! Passion projects allow grades to try out different things and have fun. I love robotics!”
