Join our learning community! Applications will continue to be accepted and seats will be granted according to availability. Students whose grade levels are at capacity will be placed on a waiting list. As permitted by Minnesota law, Minnesota Excellence in Learning Academy gives enrollment preference to students who meet the application deadline, siblings of currently enrolled students, or children of staff members.

Eligibility

In the 2025-2026 school year, Minnesota Excellence in Learning Academy will serve students in pre-kindergarten through grade 6 who meet the following requirements:

1. Reside in Minnesota
2. Kindergarten* Age five (5) by September 1, 2025
3. Pre-Kindergarten Age four (4) by September 1, 2025

*If your child does not meet the age requirement, he or she may apply for early entrance to kindergarten ONLY. PreK early entrance is not available.

​MELA's Lottery for the 26-27 school year will be held February 12, 2026.

Families who are entered in the lottery will receive notification of their enrollment status within two weeks of the lottery.
