The MELA school board consists of experienced educators, involved community members, and committed parents. MELA’s Board of Director's overarching task is to oversee the education provided at the school ensuring that all laws and requirements are followed and the school practice aligns with the mission and vision of the school. As part of this task, the Board is in charge of goal setting, providing guidance and approval for major decisions regarding the school, and hiring and evaluating the superintendent. The Board reviews policies over a three-year cycle. MELA’s Board also undertakes long-term strategic planning and oversees the finances to make sure the school is fiscally sound. All board members receive required training annually in accordance with state statute.
